About The Guardsman, London

Tucked away just moments from Buckingham Gate, The Guardsman is one of Westminster’s most refined boutique hotels. Combining residential-style intimacy with a members’ club atmosphere, the hotel offers an exclusive, bespoke experience where discretion and comfort take precedence. Each room feels personal, each detail intentional – a carefully curated space that reflects thoughtful design and high standards of hospitality.

The Brief

The Guardsman set out to create a hotel that would redefine privacy and luxury in a central London setting. The brief for Fitzroy of London was clear: support the delivery of luxury accessible bathrooms that felt every bit as elegant and bespoke as the rest of the hotel. Working alongside TONIK. ASSOCIATES as lead designers, with construction by Ellmer Construction and supply through C.P. Hart, the project required seamless collaboration and precision.

Accessibility wasn’t just a requirement – it was an opportunity to add beauty, comfort, and inclusive bathroom design to the heart of a luxury guest experience.

Our Approach

Drawing on our accessible bathroom design expertise, Fitzroy of London worked closely with the team to align our products with the interior vision of The Guardsman. From layout to finish, every decision needed to balance form and function.

We supplied our Gosfield Collection from the Signature Range, renowned for its classic proportions and timeless detailing. Completed in a PVD Satin Gold finish, the selection achieved the hotel’s goal of subtle elegance and understated luxury.

Our role was to supply accessible bathroom products that would integrate seamlessly with the hotel’s sophisticated design language. Every item was curated not just for compliance, but for cohesion – contributing to the look and feel of a luxury hotel room, while offering dignity and usability for every guest.

The Result

The finished luxury accessible bathrooms at The Guardsman are calm, contemporary, and deeply considered. Each detail speaks to craftsmanship – not compromise. From grab rails that echo architectural lines to accessories that feel like part of the interior palette, the result is a series of spaces that truly champion inclusive bathroom principles.

These bathrooms reflect how inclusive design can elevate rather than interrupt a designer’s vision – achieving beauty and practicality side by side.

Value to the Customer

For interior designers seeking inspiration, The Guardsman stands as a valuable example of how inclusive bathroom design can contribute to – and even enhance – a luxury environment. The seamless blend of accessible features into a high-end setting shows that meeting accessibility standards does not mean sacrificing design ambition.

This case demonstrates Fitzroy of London’s commitment as accessible bathroom experts to support designers with:

  • Technical precision – ensuring full compliance with relevant regulations

  • Design integrity – never compromising on aesthetics

  • Product versatility – helping realise bold visions through customisable luxury products

Why It Matters to Designers

As pressure grows for hospitality spaces to be both inclusive and inspirational, The Guardsman offers a compelling bathroom example of what’s possible. It’s a reminder that access doesn’t mean uniformity – and that inclusive spaces can be unique, memorable, and luxurious.
