About Tiptoe Retreat, Northumberland

Located in the heart of North Northumberland, Tiptoe Retreat offers luxury accommodation on a family farm set along the banks of the River Till, between the Northumberland coastline and the rolling landscape of Northumberland National Park. The retreat combines contemporary design, sustainability and wellbeing-focused experiences, creating a peaceful destination for guests seeking relaxation and escape. The Howlet cabin was specifically designed to be wheelchair accessible while maintaining the premium character of the wider development.

The Brief

Tiptoe Retreat required an accessible bathroom solution that would support the needs of wheelchair users without compromising the carefully curated interior aesthetic of the accommodation.

As with many hospitality projects, accessibility needed to be fully integrated into the guest experience rather than appearing as a separate or purely compliance-led consideration. The washroom had to provide confidence in use, meet accessibility requirements and complement the high-quality finishes expected within a luxury retreat setting.

Fitzroy worked closely with the project team to provide a solution that balanced functionality, compliance and design quality from the outset.

Using the Signature range from the Gosfield Collection in Polished Chrome, we helped create a washroom environment where accessible features felt intentionally designed as part of the overall interior scheme.
