About Adagio Whitechapel Aparthotel

Set in London’s vibrant East End, just moments from Brick Lane and the City, Aparthotel Adagio London Whitechapel offers a contemporary alternative to the traditional hotel stay. Combining apartment‑style living with hotel services, the aparthotel provides guests with more space, flexibility, and comfort—whether visiting for business or leisure.

With over 130 apartments, including generous family rooms accommodating up to eight guests, this pet‑friendly destination delivers an authentic London experience without the premium price tag of more central neighbourhoods. Its diverse guest profile and extended‑stay focus demand interiors that feel welcoming, durable, and thoughtfully designed for everyone.

The Brief

Working with Utopia, the brief focused on delivering bathrooms that reflected the modern, design‑led aesthetic of the aparthotel while remaining fully compliant with accessibility standards. The bathrooms needed to perform across a wide range of guest needs, supporting independence, dignity, and comfort without compromising on visual appeal.

This meant achieving a careful balance: refining the look and feel of the bathrooms while ensuring reliability, longevity, and ease of use across multiple room types. As accessible bathroom experts, our role was to support the design intent while safeguarding functionality and compliance.

Our Approach

The specification included products from the Style Range and Oxford Collection in a Polished Chrome finish - chosen for its timeless appearance, durability, and suitability for a high‑usage hospitality environment. These selections allowed the bathrooms to align seamlessly with the broader interior scheme while delivering the strength, grip, and performance required in stylish accessible bathrooms.

We advised on layout, positioning, and consistency across room types, helping ensure that accessible features complemented the design rather than standing apart from it. This consultative approach supported both creative ambition and technical clarity, giving designers and contractors confidence throughout delivery.

The Result

The completed bathrooms at Aparthotel Adagio London Whitechapel demonstrate how inclusive bathroom solutions can enhance, rather than limit, design outcomes. Guests encounter spaces that feel contemporary, calm, and cohesive, yet are thoughtfully equipped to support a diverse range of needs.

By integrating high‑quality accessible bathroom products within the overall design language, the bathrooms avoid the institutional feel often associated with accessibility. Instead, they contribute positively to the guest experience, reinforcing the aparthotel’s commitment to comfort, flexibility, and modern living.

Value to the Customer

Our expertise helped ensure 100% Doc M compliance while preserving the original design vision - an essential consideration in hospitality projects where usability, aesthetics, and longevity must work together.

For end users, the bathrooms support confidence and independence, demonstrating how considered accessible bathroom design can influence how people experience and move through a space. For designers and specifiers, the project stands as one of many bathroom examples showing that accessibility and elegance are not mutually exclusive.
