Great Scotland Yard Hotel is a five star luxury hotel located in historical Westminster. It is one of London's most historic and cherished buildings that holds more hidden stories than any other in kind in London. Where tradition meets luxury.

The Challenge

HBA Dubai approached Fitzroy of London to join forces on the transformation of The Great Scotland Yard's bathrooms, with a focus on creating accessible bathroom designs that match the elegance and historical charm of the Hotel. Fitzroy of London was tasked with developing customised, inclusive bathroom fittings that enhanced the hotel’s distinctive style. Our objective was to design solutions that offered both practicality and beauty, ensuring the end result was contemporary, intricate, and in perfect harmony with the hotel’s atmosphere.

The project brief called for bathroom fittings that seamlessly integrated luxury accessible bathrooms into the hotel’s unique design. These bathrooms needed to reflect the hotel’s character - melding rustic drystone, waxed concrete, and locally sourced wood - while ensuring accessibility for all guests. The challenge was to craft a solution that was both aesthetically striking and compliant with accessibility regulations, without compromising the hotel’s traditional design elements.

Our Approach

Fitzroy of London collaborated closely with HBA Dubai a global design agency to capture the hotel’s rich atmosphere with a blend of rustic charm and sophisticated elegance and understand their design vision and requirements. Our in-house designers meticulously studied the hotel’s aesthetic, working to ensure that every product recommendation reflected the rustic yet luxurious feel of the property. Through regular communication, we provided a solution that was tailored to the interior designer's specific needs, while meeting the strict compliance standards required for accessible spaces.

The Result

We selected the Constable Collection from our Signature range, renowned for its intricate hexagonal detailing and contemporary finishes. The collection’s opulent yet functional design was ideal for the hotel’s inclusive bathrooms, adding elegance and practicality to the spaces. The customisable finishes allowed the hotel to maintain its unique design elements, while ensuring accessibility needs were met without compromising on style.

The Constable Collection not only delivers luxury but ensures accessibility is at the forefront of the design. Fitzroy of London’s ability to blend sophisticated aesthetics with practical functionality was key to solving the project’s challenge. By combining form and function, we created a space that resonated with the hotel’s luxurious atmosphere while being inclusive and easy to use for all guests.
