About The Customer
Tonik Associates has long been recognised for their bold, imaginative design solutions. They don’t just craft spaces; they weave stories through their work. Their objective? To breathe life into brands by combining innovative design and functionality.
Middle Eight, positioned between Holborn and Covent Garden, is no ordinary hotel. This establishment effortlessly combines elegance with its distinct personality, featuring 12 suites and 190 rooms, each exuding charm and character.
The Challenge
Middle Eight’s vision for their accessible rooms was crystal clear... they aimed to make these spaces compliant with regulations while keeping their luxurious feel. The challenge was to ensure the luxury accessible bathrooms matched the grandeur and sophistication of the other guest rooms while meeting all accessibility standards. Therefore, they needed more than just a bathroom supplier - they required a partner capable of delivering functional yet visually striking accessible bathroom design solutions that would seamlessly blend with Middle Eight’s ethos of “conscious luxury.”
The solution
Middle Eight has worked with Fitzroy of London since 2018 on numerous projects with varying briefs. They once again chose us for our bespoke designs and reliable delivery, not only from a service standpoint but also for adhering to accessible bathroom standards.
From the start, we worked closely with Tonik Associates’. Detailed mood boards were developed to bring the design concepts to life and featured bespoke metal finishes that both complemented the hotel's luxurious aesthetic and ensured ease of use for guests with accessibility needs.
For this project, we turned to our Gosfield Collection, selected for its rich craftsmanship and remarkable adaptability. Every component was handpicked to balance form and function equally. Our luxury accessible bathrooms not only served as practical spaces but became integral parts of the hotel's overall design narrative. The bespoke finishes we created were unique to Middle Eight, ensuring that each bathroom was a perfect blend of elegance and practicality.
By maintaining close collaboration with Tonik Associates throughout the process, we ensured that every accessible bathroom didn’t just match but enhanced the broader design vision of the hotel. By going beyond the ordinary, we delivered bathrooms that were modern, minimalistic, and functional, while still remaining luxurious. The result? A perfect fusion of creativity, craftsmanship, and quality.
The Result
Middle Eight’s accessible rooms are now considered a gold standard in the hospitality industry, raising the bar for luxury accessible design. Guests have responded with overwhelming positivity, often expressing their delight and surprise when realising they’d been upgraded to an accessible room. The combination of style, accessibility, and functionality has set a new benchmark, with many of these accessible rooms surpassing the standard guest rooms in both comfort and design.
Through our collaboration, Tonik Associates and Fitzroy of London achieved more than just compliance. Together, we designed luxury accessible bathroom designs that not only met all functional needs but also far exceeded Middle Eight's high aesthetic expectations. This project has pushed the boundaries of accessible hospitality design, proving that accessibility can coexist harmoniously with creativity and luxury.
