An Introduction to Anna Mazurak
A Senior Interior Designer at Studio Mica, Anna has spent the last three years working on the Montcalm Mayfair hotel - the Montcalm Collection’s flagship hotel. Alongside this, Anna is also involved in a boutique hotel in Guernsey as well as a private villa in Ibiza.
A stunning Grade II listed building, the Montcalm Mayfair has been refurbished to include a fresh look for the bedrooms, suites and communal areas, as well as a new restaurant, lounge and bar.
When designing luxury bathrooms, “it’s all about designing with empathy,” Anna says. “While accessible bathrooms are a standard requirement in all our commercial projects, hotels are a bit different because you must cater for all the accessible needs which guests might have, all in one place. Therefore, every accessible bathroom needs to feel as thoughtfully crafted as any other hotel room.”
Why Fitzroy of London was Chosen for the Project
“It was important to have a single design throughout the hotel, whether the bathroom is accessible or not, and Fitzroy of London offer a fully comprehensive range of products – from the grab rails to the shower seats – in all of their collections,” she says. “We specified the brushed brass finish for the standard fittings, so we were looking for brushed brass also for the accessible fittings.”
Anna chose Fitzroy of London’s Gosfield collection, not only for its brushed brass finish, but for its “simple and contemporary yet elegant look. They are high quality products, so they match the overall aesthetic of the bathroom,” she says.
In addition, the Gosfield collection also offers the unique ability for products such as grab rails to be removed, with backing plates available to attach to the wall fitting to hide it when not in use. "To have the removeable rails was the hotel operations team’s idea,” says Anna, “we think that it is a great option as it gives much more flexibility and allows the hotel to meet the accessible requirements for every guest on an individual basis.”
How Was it Working with Fitzroy of London?
Anna noted that what really stood out to her was how collaborative Fitzroy of London were with herself and Studio Mica. “The Fitzroy of London team worked closely with us on every detail. Their team has great knowledge about the regulations as well as in-depth expertise about the technical details. They also provided us with lots of samples of their finishes,” she says. This allowed her to confidently present the accessible fittings to the client knowing they matched the brushed brass finish and the contemporary design aesthetic they proposed, whilst also being compliant with the latest regulations.
