Leading the Way in Accessible Design: How Our Product Design Team Works

Whether you're an interior designer or the manager of a venue with accessible design requirements, or an architect/specifier tasked with developing disabled bathroom spaces, you need to know that the products you choose have been developed with quality and compliance in mind.

As a manufacturer of Doc M packs and luxury accessible bathroom products, Fitzroy of London is ideally placed to provide not only the physical items you need to create disabled bathrooms, but also the technical support, guidance, and peace of mind you need as a professional when working on accessible projects.

These important functions of our business are driven by our in-house Product Design & Innovation (PD&I) team, who are responsible for product development and testing as well as all the instructions and documentation you require for successful specification and installation.

Let’s take a closer look at how our PD&I department works:

Design & Innovation

The Product Design & Innovation department is a crucial component within Fitzroy of London’s day-to-day operations. Our multi-disciplined team offers a wide-ranging skillset and strong expertise in product design and engineering. They focus on producing high-quality outputs such as CAD (Computer-Aided Design) data, customer-facing drawings, manufacturing-level drawings, and product imagery.

Striving for More

Part of our commitment to innovation involves creating conditions throughout Fitzroy of London to ensure our vision is shared and continuously followed so that our brands can reach their full potential. We continuously gain knowledge and understanding of new and existing materials and processes. We set high standards among the team regarding the quality of both the products and the data we release as part of a thorough design process, and pride ourselves on our ability to blend aesthetics with genuine design integrity.

Our Process

The department adheres to an agreed process which guarantees a ‘Right First Time’ outcome and ensures that all products have been fully tested before release. Our New Product Development process is as follows:

  2. Design Development (early stage)
  3. Supplier Engagement
  4. Design Development and Detailed Design
  5. Sampling & Testing
  6. Certification
  7. Documentation Creation
  8. Implementation Planning

Following this process ensures that every project’s progress is extremely thorough, helping us avoid unexpected delays while also ensuring our products perform consistently to the best of their ability when they’re out in the world.

  • Data Sheets
  • Marketing Drawings
  • CAD formats (2D DWG, 3D SAT)
