About The Parkgate Hotel, Cardiff
The Parkgate Hotel stands as Cardiff’s finest luxury hotel, nestled beside the Principality Stadium and steeped in the elegance of its Grade II listed architecture. Part of the prestigious Celtic Collection, the hotel blends historic grandeur with contemporary sophistication. Named AA Hotel of the Year for Wales, it features The Sorting Room - a MICHELIN Guide listed restaurant with 2 AA Rosettes - offering guests an exceptional dining experience in a setting that celebrates both heritage and innovation
The Brief
Fitzroy of London was invited to collaborate with Utopia Projects and interior design studio Goddard Littlefair to deliver stylish accessible guestrooms that would honour the building’s architectural legacy while meeting modern standards of inclusive bathroom design. The challenge lay in crafting luxury accessible bathrooms that seamlessly integrated with the hotel’s opulent aesthetic and complied with accessibility regulations.
Our Approach
Fitzroy of London approached the project with a commitment to design excellence, accessibility, and heritage sensitivity. Working closely with Utopia Projects and GODDARD LITTLEFAIR, we selected our Polished Stainless Steel finish from the Mortimer collection - chosen for its simplistic and refined aesthetic.
Our team of accessible bathroom experts ensured that every product met the highest standards of compliance without compromising on style. We tailored each element to complement the hotel’s restored interiors, using our expertise in accessible bathroom products to deliver solutions that were both functional and visually refined.
Key considerations included:
-
Harmonising with the building’s Edwardian features
-
Ensuring ease of use for all guests
-
Maintaining a consistent design language across accessible guestrooms

The Result
The result is a series of inclusive bathrooms that elevate the guest experience while remaining fully accessible. Each space reflects the hotel’s luxurious identity, with accessible bathroom design that feels bespoke, elegant, and intuitive.
The polished stainless steel finish adds a sleek, modern touch that contrasts beautifully with the building’s historic textures. The accessible guestrooms now serve as a benchmark for how bathroom design experts can merge compliance with creativity.
